I was surprised to see such a run on minor league [ML] prospects so early. I assumed most of the high impact players would be locked up long-term, which would make the first few years of Free Agency fairly limited in terms of talent. If you add up the slot salaries, there's a good amount of room to grow to account for salary increases in arbitration. I think some of the guys like Kershaw or Scherzer are going to be devalued with people wanting to ensure they have certain prospects. It'll be interesting to see how strategies unfold over these next 20 or so rounds. I think it's great that "impact" players will still be available because of this. I have my group of players i want but figured it would be 10-20 rounds in not right off the bat |

If there is one thing people love it is prospects. Hope always springs eternal. Except over here on the Athletics who are always on tilt.

Can this picks be traded and do ML picks count towards the 50 players? Can I trade my next pick for a pick in round three or vice versa?

Pick trading would be so time consuming for the initial draft. First year player draft pick trading would be nice, I can't remember if that's a rule or not. |

You can't trade the picks in this initial draft. You will be able to trade players you draft, but not the slot ahead of time. For the annual Amateur Draft, we will allow trading those picks--just not further down the road so a team can't gut their future if they don't plan to be around. |

I've sent a couple messages to the Twins. I think we'll swing into the 3rd Round pretty quick. Remember that you can send in a list to the league for when your turn comes up, ask another GM to draft the player you want, etc. to help keep the line moving! The sooner we finish with the draft, the sooner we can start with games.

Arozarena was a really good pick. As someone who has watched a bunch of his plate appearances this year he is nowhere near last year's form. Guy swings and misses at a bunch of terrible pitches with a hole up and in it seems. |

This watch pot never boils. I just don't like being in the middle of the draft. So much prefer to be on either end with four or five picks to the turn and then have a while to wait.

Being in the middle is tough, you have to adjust your strategy twice as often as you would if you were on the end. I've been both first and last in my work draft and I'll take either over middle.

It's a gamble, do I take the guy who I think gives me the most runs now, or do I take the other guy who I definitely won't get next time I'm up because I don't think the guy I want will be picked. Plus gotta evaluate the optimal position to pick as your draft slot approaches. |
