I was very close to taking Franco with my pick. Taking 3 ml guys and saving all that money for the next 3 years is probably the best way to go if I didnt get one of the top 6 guys on my list.

There are really good players left, even one I wouldn't completely cringe at paying 25 million, but my commitment issues cropped up again.

I loved the Franco pick. Also would have taken Acuna 1st but you can’t go wrong Trout.

At this rate it might be 2022 before we actually start Don't want anyone to think I'm trying to hide or censor anything, but I slid this message over to the draft commentary thread because we're trying to keep the draft results thread clean for posting picks/announcements. Considering this is Mother's Day weekend and we're starting with the largest time increment before being skipped, I think we're going at a decent pace. It's obviously best if people can check in frequently, but I'll continue to send e-mail prompts to people to help us move along.

Email prompts is a good idea. Also if you are 6 picks out or something and you know your top 6 send a list in to a buddy who checks in more frequently that picks behind you. Done slow drafts where both of those moves help efficiency. Also think 24 hours is more than enough time in future rounds.
Will Smith is a sneaky good pick as you can get more WAR out of him than the projection but 22 million seems steep.

San Diego stands ready to make two picks provide Cincinnati steps up to the plate and Chicago, Milwaukee, and Colorado hang around long enough to do their second picks as well.

It'll be interesting to see the talent pool in 2025's free agency year.

All contracts have been four years so far. Rendon was on the only 3 year. Im surprised at the amount of ML players taken so far.

This draft has certainly slowed to a crawl with the holiday. We'll see if it picks up this week.

Haven't seen a ML player in this round yet after a big run at the end of the 1st.

It's very interesting to see teams go straight for prospects. This whole draft process has really sent me for a loop on what direction I should have taken. I guess its too late to change now.
The Red Sox taking two future studs should help them with long term financials. It'll be interesting.

But will it? Unless I missed something, if BOTH players meet the at bats limit to qualify doesn't their slot salary take effect? That could be a nightmare and downside to taking these guys so high, in my opinion

That could be a nightmare and downside to taking these guys so high, in my opinion So lets take Wander Franco as an example. He currently is on the ML pay scale. If he hits the 130 ABs at the MLB level during 2021, he transitions to [.5/1/A1/A2/A3] pay scale NEXT season, 2022. He wouldn't go immediately to 25M where his draft slot was.

Make sure notifications are on for private messages. I've been at work doing nothing and sending out courtesy draft messages to GM's that are up for their pick. They are default turned off in the settings. Just hit "Profile" -> "Edit Profile" -> "Notifications", and make sure they're turned on if you want them.

ML players have value for sure but the real deal is some of these low salary studs who have and will continue to go in the 2nd.

I was surprised to see such a run on minor league [ML] prospects so early. I assumed most of the high impact players would be locked up long-term, which would make the first few years of Free Agency fairly limited in terms of talent. If you add up the slot salaries, there's a good amount of room to grow to account for salary increases in arbitration. I think some of the guys like Kershaw or Scherzer are going to be devalued with people wanting to ensure they have certain prospects. It'll be interesting to see how strategies unfold over these next 20 or so rounds.
