If Ohtani is active, he should be active. His team should use him however they want to use him. I agree about Ohtani, though it's unfortunate that the Zips projection for 2021 doesn't rate him as a pitcher. There's always next year! Are you looking at the annual season disk (with last year's stats)? In the 2021 ZiPS projection disk, Ohtani does have a projection as a pitcher and hitter.

I dump the players into a database and clearly I have a bug. Think it's because his primary position is DH, even in the pitcher profiles report. In any case, if it helps people draft, and it's kosher, I'd be happy to share the dumped files.

With the full draft trending towards the preferred option, I just wanted to pull out the two rules questions regarding injuries for two-way players and SP eligibility for a league vote. Please post any questions you have about the rules in this thread so we can address any issues and make sure we're all on the same page.

Quick question about trading. Will there be any restrictions on trading? Obviously a deadline but some leagues ( which baffles me) doesn't allow trading during the season. Those are the ones I stay far away from..lol

Those are the ones I stay far away from..lol Trading will definitely be allowed. The Trade Deadline will be the end of the day on July 31st. This won't have any impact on our draft, but starting in the offseason, a player signed in the Free Agency bidding period cannot be traded until July 1st.

Issue: Player X has projected stats in the 2021 DMB projection disk. Team 1 selects Player X and signs him to a Minor League contract. When can Team 1 use X during the 2021 B1G season ?
anytime ? when he is actually used during the 2021 MLB season ? other ??

ML players can be played at any time. If the player stays under the IPs and ABs limit we set, he could stay ML for a long time and still be getting a projection. Only when he reaches those limits in real life is when his salary changes.

Houston's explanation is accurate. The financials and database are two separate entities. Whether a player is being paid or on a [ML] contract, he can play in the simulation if he has a projection--and is active/healthy in real life.

.5/1/A1/A2/A3 is my understanding.

Yes, once a player reaches 130 or more MLB ABs or 50 or more MLB IP in their career, they would transition to the [.5/1/A1/A2/A3] pay scale where $3 million is the maximum they can earn for A1, $5 million max for A2, and $10 million max for A3. It incentivizes continuing to build through the Amateur Draft and signing young players who will then be under cost-control for a number of years.

Reading the rules are we following the extra inning rule of runner on 2nd or are we doing how baseball should really be played?

Reading the rules are we following the extra inning rule of runner on 2nd or are we doing how baseball should really be played? The intention was to follow the MLB rules, with the one exception being the DH in both leagues--to ensure an equal playing field when drafting since MLB is headed towards that as well. If people feel strongly about the 3-batter rule or runner on 2nd in extra innings, I'm willing to put that to a vote (if necessary).

3 batter minimum is alright but I would put to a vote the runner on 2nd rule. MLB knows it is dumb that is why they aren't going to do it in the playoffs.

I hate the runner on 2nd rule. I 2nd the league vote to remove it.

Is there a limit on Minor League roster spots?
I see there is a 5 round amateur draft each season, but I don't see a roster limits mentioned, unless I skipped over it.

5 spots for the amateur draft in future years when we have the draft that don't count on your regular slots. They get added the following season to your roster.

Is there a limit on Minor League roster spots? I see there is a 5 round amateur draft each season, but I don't see a roster limits mentioned, unless I skipped over it. We'll have a 50-man roster, 26 active in the simulation. There's no overall limit on minor league [ML] players. For the draft, teams have up to 3 [ML] wildcards. That doesn't mean they can't draft more players who haven't met the MLB rookie eligibility requirements (130 MLB ABs or 50 MLB IP), but you don't have more than 3 opportunities to forgo the salary/contract for the slot. If you use up those wildcards, then drafting a player who hasn't me the MLB rookie eligibility requirements would be taking the player at the slot value--so you'd be starting to pay them immediately. Rounds 26 and beyond is when [0/.5/A1] or [ML] is the slot salary/contract, depending on if they met the MLB rookie eligibility requirements as of the end of the 2020 season. What Oakland described for the annual Amateur Draft is also correct.

So basically if you draft a 4th ML that full salary counts vs the first 3 being what it currently is

For this inaugural draft that is correct. If your first 4 picks would be ML players the first 3 would be ML and the 4th would be slot value until the 27th round when the slot value can be ML.

Since a contract is voided when a player is signed by a foreign team, I'm assuming that blocks us from selecting foreign prospects

Since a contract is voided when a player is signed by a foreign team, I'm assuming that blocks us from selecting foreign prospects Depends on what you're talking about exactly. The international prospects who sign with a MLB franchise will be available in the Amateur Draft each year or Free Agency if they're a prominent player with a projection (like Ohtani). For this draft, the player would have to have signed with a MLB franchise prior to the start of this draft. If they aren't with a MLB franchise, you wouldn't be able to select/sign them--if you're talking about a hold their rights situation.

Question:
So picking up players is an ongoing option.. no deadlines, etc ??

Question: So picking up players is an ongoing option.. no deadlines, etc ?? There will be deadlines for teams who are over the roster limit to get under by before the league releases the necessary players for them. But yes, teams will be able to utilize the DL Reserve to carry additional players when they have players injured in the simulation. b1g.boards.net/thread/2/rulebookD. Disabled List ReserveDuring the season, there will be a Disabled List Reserve where teams gain an additional slot for every current injury to a player in the simulation, but teams can only gain a maximum of 5 additional slots. If a player does not have a projection in the simulation, teams will not gain an additional slot while they’re injured. The newly signed player is not required to have a projection, but the DL Reserve is intended to help teams maintain a 26-man active roster when besieged by injuries.

I think I know the answer to this, but want to confirm. If a player is Optioned or Outrighted to an MLB Team's Alternate Training Site, are they still eligible to play if they have a projection? My understanding would be "no", because the player is not active on an MLB or MILB team during this time.
E.g., given the set of official MLB transactions below, would there ever be a time that Lewis Thorpe would not be eligible to play in the sim (assuming he has a projection)?
