It will be interesting to see what sort of team Colorado fields after he drops 14.4 million in salary. If my reading of the rules is correct, he will actually have to drop at least 28.8 million; because he will continue to be responsible for half the salaries of the players he waives unless they are claimed. No? He made a trade for 16 million in 22 last night for Daniel Espino.

That would be correct if Rockies were making room by dropping players, but Rockies traded a (good) prospect to the Phillies for cash to cover the shortfall.

As have listed Tuner for weeks I’ve listed information about wanting bats for weeks
I have reached out to multiple teams, some who posted guys they say they want to move and have heard nothing back
Yet I am being underhanded and colluding.
I’m not sure what the point is here. I want to win but I can’t make teams trade with me. I am sure there are deals I could have done if we had active owners. Seems like being active and trying is a problem

I have to say these last second trades made by Oakland weren't really how this should be intended to be like. I would agree that it wasn't a great look. This makes me rethink things a little bit. I feel like there's a lot of collusion going on and some of these teams are a little too close for comfort with each other A lot of collusion? Care to explain what you're basing that on?

Trades are considered accepted until not. So both mentioned do currently have not spent more than they have. I am not sure what you mean about the waiver wire stuff. I was looking at the google doc sheet for the available funds. Not sure how trades are considered "accepted" until they are approved by the league but I am open to someone showing me I am missing something. I just think we have to plug the holes in the rulebook if it allows any team to bid more money than it had entering the FA draft.
A team can get under the roster or salary cap by releasing players or making trades. Once the trade is agreed to by both parties, then it has to be voted on the league for it to be official, but that team has done what they needed to be making some type of roster transaction to get under. We can consider some type of penalty or consequence if the trade is vetoed by the league vote.

No? Just wanted to highlight for everyone from the rulebook: The claiming team with the highest waiver priority would then assume the player’s entire contract and the releasing team would no longer be responsible for 50% of the contract.

The claiming period is 72 hours so I was waiting for it to be official--I had just removed Noe Ramirez from Oakland because I was already on his sheet updating his transactions.

Question: If we have a salary cap, why is it legal to go above it during the free agency process with funds from a trade which has not been approved by the league???
Question: If a team releases a player during the free agent process, why isnt the team still responsible for half of his salary until someone claims the released player ??

We should just take away the voting process.
Agreed upon trades are official.
If you want to veto, make your case. No 48/72 hour rule, whatever it is.

I would disagree with removing the voting process to approve trades, it is a great rule. Nevertheless, your post does not answer either question.

In terms of the closing period of a Free Agency tier, it is literally impossible for me or any other person to be able to monitor the bidding in real-time to ensure that no team is bidding more than the money they have available at that current moment. Allowing teams the flexibility to immediately get under the cap by making a transaction (such as releasing a player or making trade) seems like a reasonable compromise to me. I personally think it's similar to how we allowed teams to trade draft slots and select a player in the Amateur Draft before the 72-hour period in which the trade is made official. The team's 50% responsibility wouldn't be removed until there is a claim. Whether a team places a waiver claim in the immediate 24 hours or waits until later, they can't pull back a claim so one team placing a claim ensures that the releasing team would no longer have any financial responsibility. We will continue voting on trades. In my opinion, that's not something that's negotiable.

I find it very odd that Cleveland said he feels like there's a lot of collusion going on, but there's still been no elaboration at all. Especially considering the majority of Cleveland's trades have been with one team. Do the Guardians and Yankees happen to know each other?

A's are open to trading with anyone. I think a lot of teams are still clinging to the initial draft and ideas of competing which leads to a stagnant market. Which also leads to deals occurring between teams you have good relationships with as they respond.

I make a ton of trades with whomever is interested...I'm an equal opportunity trader..lol.but for argument sake I see the point and no I don't know him. Some guys are just easier to deal and negotiate then others. I've apologized for my comments but apparently those apologies weren't excepted because I haven't heard back from the parties involved. So we either get over it and move on or continue to dwell and be hostile. Your choice.

I appreciate all the hard work you do but we need to fix the cracks in the rulebook and this is one of them. I also appreciate the work involved in running the league and the free agent draft. Nevertheless, I disagree it is impossible to monitor a cap during a free agent draft. I will wait until this draft is over to suggest alternatives so you can spend time running the draft. I promise any changes will reduce your workload.

My comment about the majority of trades being with one team was directed at the Guardians, who has still been mysteriously absent after he said he feels like there's a lot of collusion. Just because I don't accept your apology doesn't mean there has been any hostility at all towards you. However, I'm afraid we are going to have to dwell on this some more in order to uncover the truth and decide the future direction that's best for the league. I also thought you might say that you don't know the Guardians GM...which is interesting considering you both have apparently shared the same IP address since joining the league.

Due to the person who secretly controlled the Yankees and Guardians being banned, the Braves and Athletics have been permitted to bid on behalf of the Yankees and Guardians (using only one-year contracts), respectively. This is to try to prevent the Yankees and Guardians from being further punished as a result of the actions of the person who previously controlled them.
