Any other questions or issues? Or are we good to go with bidding on the first Free Agency tier starting tomorrow and ending next Sunday, March 13th, at 9 PM Central?

I've installed a clock that will be helpful for Free Agency closing and knowing when you're posting. Unfortunately, I can't adjust the time zone so I think it displays whatever time zone you're in--you'll need to know the time conversion since we'll be going by 9 PM Central.

I suggested a way to avoid the chaos but apparently it will not be voted on. Hope this is not the start of a trend..

Would you not believe that any rule changes like going to a silent bidding format would be implemented in 2023 FA?

Do we post our bids or send them to someone ?? In the forums there will be topic titles where bid posts will be for the players. Commish will make the posts tomorrow I would assume.

The list was posted on February 28,2022 but best to move on... just hope we do not break the rule about voting on how to do things.

I didn't realize there was an expectation that every idea thrown out on the board needed a vote

Someone mentioned "clusterfuck" earlier. I think it's already there. You already had someone bid on Raley, and his bid was in plain daylight so unless he did it wrong, how is this an auction?

So if it is a silent auction, why would we worry about giving everyone 10 minutes to respond on Sunday evening? Why would the process take a week?

I didn't realize there was an expectation that every idea thrown out on the board needed a vote I am happy to move on but since you raise the issue again...
At the start of the free agency thread...the Commish said:
As I'm looking to update the Rulebook, we need to create and agree to the structure of Free Agency. I made that entry vague so that we could collectively decide.
I believe that creates a "reasonable expectation" but again, lets move on ....

The rules do not describe the way the auction will be conducted. I would accept a dictate from the commissioner or his designee at this point. I would suggest that if no one responds to a bid within 24 hours, the thread should be cut off and the player should be awarded to the original bidder. Further, no one who fails to respond to a bid within 24 hours should be allowed to post. No sitting on the sideline until Sunday night before entering the fray. That should reduce the magnitude of the clusterbleep on Sunday night.

It is not a silent auction. And the process takes a week because not everyone checks in everyday I would guess.

I don't have any issue with voting on proposed changes. Altering the system right before we're set to start isn't realistic though. What we would vote on now would be a proposed change for the future.

I'm sorry but if I bid on a guy and nobody else does for a week then all of a sudden 20 minutes before his end time there's 10 bids, it's a joke. Bottom line. Here's how it should be. You wanna tier guys, I see no problem with that. Art sends his bids to another trusted member. Once this happens we then get the the green light to send our bids. 2 days, tops. High bid win..auction over. I feel everything in this league is fly by night and not very well thought out. To many cooks in the kitchen. Too many chiefs

Because nobody cares about your ( not you personally) 1 year, 37 million dollar offer to a guy who's never played a MLB game before in his life, a stupid offer, btw. And the sad part is there's no consequences for it. Just 37 million in cap room gone for one year. Ho hum. I just don't think a silent one week auction works. Because like I said, you'll have the bozos who do nothing for a week, jump in at 1159 and drive the price up. You mean to tell me it took a week for you to realized you wanted someone? Coincidence? To me, a regular tiered auction works great. 48 hours for one tier. Art sends his bids to whomever then we send our bids to him. High bidder wins. Move on to the next tier.

Your opinion is fine about my bid but it doesn't change the fact that you didn't explain why you feel it would be better if the bids are silent.

This is what a know it all you are... I read NOTHING about him. I bid on him just to piss you off. Something about you rubs me the wrong way. Not sure what but you seems to be involved in EVERY conversation going on. Go cut the grass or something. Take a break
