b1g.boards.net/thread/2/rulebookB. Amateur DraftEvery year, there will be an Amateur Draft consisting of 5 rounds. Draft order will be determined by the team who had the worst winning percentage in the previous season. Teams will have 5 additional free spots solely for that year’s amateur draftees—at the end of every season, they would then be incorporated into the 50-man total roster. Draftees would be on the basic minor league [ML] contract until they accumulate the required MLB experience to change pay scales. The Amateur Draft will take place in the offseason (after that year’s MLB Amateur Draft so we know the prospects who have signed). Eligible players are those draftees who signed with an MLB franchise as well as international players signed prior to the start of the B1G Amateur Draft. International players with an anticipated projection in the coming season will likely be up for bid in Free Agency instead of the Amateur Draft—reflecting the real-life process.

Ok. That's good. So teams who drafted with the notion of well " I'm probably going to be bad" won't get rewarded

The reverse order of the previous season's standings, the team with the worst record would be #1 in the Amateur Draft--just like MLB.

Is that such a great idea for our first one? I mean, teams just drafted, and I'm probably 100% accurate when I say, "to not win on purpose". Not a good idea to reward these teams with the first overall pick for that reason. We should go reverse order of this draft. Then next season new projections make it somewhat of a even playing field

This was a rule that was posted prior to the start of drafting so it seems unfair to change anything so foundational like that when people probably had that in mind as part of their draft strategy. While Jack Leiter is a potential prize for the worst team, there's absolutely no guarantee that anyone will turn out to be anything. In terms of concerns about rewarding bad teams, you can also refer to the rules about financial incentives--teams get penalized for being bad.

And the teams who drafted to suck are going to be in a hole for the next few years. That seems penalty enough.

This was known before the draft. I'm fine with no changes for our first rookie draft.
