Just curious, why the choice to use the projection disk and not the actual disk? So guys who've never played a game will still have projections?

I previously ran a similar salaried league that used the projection disk for several years--actually when Diamond Mind created it themselves instead of using ZiPS. Since the structure of the league puts someone in the position of a MLB GM, it promotes constructing a roster for the present and future. One of the benefits is definitely seeing how a prospect would do. Personally, I also think using a projection of the coming season (predicting how players will do) promotes more creativity and flexibility than using the actual results.

Will it devalue a player though?

Will it devalue a player though? I don't think it devalues a player. I think the ZiPS model is more predictive of future success than simply using a player's stats from the previous year. Dan Szymborski (the baseball writer/researcher who created ZiPS) can better explain his model and there is an introduction about the 2021 ZiPS projections on FanGraphs.

I've never used it but I'm actually excited to although I never really wanted to. Should be interesting. If all 30 teams are filled when do you see things picking up?

I think ZiPS adds a fun dynamic. I don't know Dan Szymborski, but I've always found him to be very nice and willing to engage--whether it's by e-mail, Twitter, or even submitting questions to his FanGraphs chats. He's been paid by MLB teams for his knowledge and predictive model so you know those in real baseball value his input. In terms of the league, I'm hoping to fill the remaining vacancies by the end of the month. We do also have to cement the rules, but hopefully we'll be able to get started soon. While we want to make sure we do things right, I think it would also benefit us to get things in motion with roster construction shortly after all franchises are filled.
