The San Francisco Giants issued the following statement:
News media outlets have bombarded our front office with questions regarding the Oakland A's signing Wander Franco with a wildcard selection with the 14th pick in the first round of the B1G league draft. Owner Jim Doyle issued the following statement:
" No team in major league history has won more games or World Series than the San Francisco Giants and we intend to continue that history in the B1G league. Personally, I spent my youth in KC and the Oakland franchise should have stayed where they were. Nevertheless, the Giants will continue to excel despite the Oakland franchise attempting to build a ballpark in our backyard or signing the best prospect in baseball. I have full confidence in our GM and Manager as we begin our quest for B1G league championships."

The San Francisco Giants issued the following scouting report by Jim Bowden on Bobby Witt Jr, the first player drafted in SFG history:
"I think he’s the second-best prospect in baseball behind Wander Franco of the Rays. Witt has the hit tool with 40-homer power, a strong throwing arm and the athleticism to play anywhere on the diamond. Shortstop might be his prime position, but I won’t be surprised if he’s the Royals’ everyday center fielder before long, and he could be their regular second baseman. One thing’s for sure: He’s an elite talent."
