While this will help us speed up these middle rounds, I also want to plan ahead for what we can do to kind of put things in hyperspeed for the later rounds. Once we're closer to when the 26-man active rosters are fleshed out, I think we can finish things up pretty quickly. I'm hopeful we can complete this whole process by the end of June or at the very least by the MLB All-Star Break.

I think starting in the 13th round or Tuesday seems to be a good plan of action.

Ending the blackout at 4am for me daily isn't really ideal, especially with a two hour window. I will miss that window often if my pick falls in there. If that's the case then I think we should make the window go later to be fair. Make the blackout 12-6 so its later for one side of the country and early for the other. Sorry, I didn't notice this earlier. It's a good point, but starting the blackout at Midnight CST (Central Standard Time) would have the clock counting against those on the East Coast until 1 AM. I think we have to try to strike a balance. What would everyone think about shifting the the blackout period an hour to 11 PM CST to 7 AM CST? That means it would be 9 PM PST to 5 AM PST and Midnight EST to 8 AM EST.

I don't know if there is a perfect timing for everyone, so whatever we choose will require flexibility. If you see that we are ending on someone who is 2 picks away sending in a list of 3 to someone you know who hops on early can solve that. With the 4 hour skip, the ability to send lists, and even email reminders when picks are up I think we should be able to handle this while moving at a faster pace.

With all info at ones fingertips, 2 hours should be enough time per pick. We could pull everything we need up from our phone. Hell, I've been updating my sheet with my phone

I think starting in the 13th round or Tuesday seems to be a good plan of action. I think "or Tuesday" it is! I didn't expect this burst of action and thought the timing might work out just right, but it'll make sense to begin with the reduced maximum time per pick tomorrow. Does anyone have strong thoughts against shifting the blackout period to 11 PM to 7 AM CST?

When/if we have a lull, I'll send out an updated database with the announcement that the reduced time and blackout period will officially start tonight/early AM tomorrow.

With the quality of players around the same level of bench/pitching depth, how can put these later stages into hyperspeed to finish? Some options could be setting a deadline for sending in final lists to complete it in one fell swoop or schedule a round per day with half hour time slots (outside of the blackout period). Do we want to draft all 50 rounds or open the signing forums after a certain round so teams can then fill out their remaining roster that way? Any thoughts or ideas?

I think sending in a final list of 800 players is a bit of an undertaking.
I think scheduling time slots to pick is an idea to explore or dropping skip limit time. It would be really nice if after these skips we had lists of these next few teams to jump start things.
Against just opening the signing forums. I think that would change the integrity of the structuring of the league start even though it would benefit more active people.

I have been and will make my picks in a timely fashion and don't believe I should be penalized because some others might not. I have a broad list of who I am targeting in each round with circumstances being occasionally altered because of specific players/targets being selected ahead of me - or an unanticipated run on particular positions ... I don't think any one should not have an opportunity to draft their own players and as long as we are all subject to the same time guidelines we should be able to have a fair draft.

I'm not personally much of a fan in completing it all at once with lists, but I believe someone else had suggested it previously. It still might be something to consider for the last 5 rounds or so. Reducing the time limit still wouldn't guarantee getting through a round per day, which is what we really need at this point. It's been frustrating when we get into repeated lulls with the same GMs. In terms of trying to schedule a round per day, 30-minute windows could look something like...
1st Pick: 6:00 AM - 6:30 AM (Pacific) 2nd Pick: 6:30 AM - 7:00 AM (Pacific) 3rd Pick: 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM (Pacific) 4th Pick: 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM (Pacific) 5th Pick: 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM (Pacific) 6th Pick: 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM (Pacific) 7th Pick: 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM (Pacific) 8th Pick: 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM (Pacific) 9th Pick: 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM (Pacific) 10th Pick: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM (Pacific) 11th Pick: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM (Pacific) 12th Pick: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM (Pacific) 13th Pick: 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM (Pacific) 14th Pick: 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM (Pacific) 15th Pick: 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM (Pacific) 16th Pick: 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM (Pacific) 17th Pick: 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM (Pacific) 18th Pick: 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM (Pacific) 19th Pick: 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM (Pacific) 20th Pick: 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM (Pacific) 21st Pick: 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM (Pacific) 22nd Pick: 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM (Pacific) 23rd Pick: 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM (Pacific) 24th Pick: 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM (Pacific) 25th Pick: 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM (Pacific) 26th Pick: 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM (Pacific) 27th Pick: 8:00 PM - 8:30 PM (Pacific) 28th Pick: 8:30 PM - 9:00 PM (Pacific) 29th Pick: 9:00 PM - 9:30 PM (Pacific) 30th Pick: 9:30 PM - 10:00 PM (Pacific)
People would know exactly when they have a window to post their pick. If they won't be available during that time, they could send in a list to the league e-mail and/or other people in the league who would be available. This is just a potential idea, but I think we'll need to do something probably starting by the 26th Round to schedule this finish. Starting something like that by next Saturday, June 19th, could ensure the draft is complete by early July.

Perfect idea. Your slot comes up and you pick. Works in every other draft. If you miss your pick you'll be skipped and could then pick whenever.

I'm hopeful that we finish by July 2nd. That gets us done before the Holiday weekend and before I head to summer camp for 10 days.
I just won't be able to follow and keep up at that point.

Since there hasn't been any real objection to scheduling out a round per day with 30-minute time slots, we'll go with that and I'll send out an announcement later tonight. Ideally, we can start it this weekend. We really need to ensure a timely finish and a measure like this should help get us there.

Quick question on the timed round start. We (hopefully) make it through the end of the 25th sometime tomorrow and then wait until 6am on Sunday to start the 26th (with timed slots), correct?

Quick question on the timed round start. We (hopefully) make it through the end of the 25th sometime tomorrow and then wait until 6am on Sunday to start the 26th (with timed slots), correct? We wouldn't necessarily have to wait. We can approach it like the blackout period where teams can post their pick if they're up, but the clock wouldn't officially start. Although they're scheduled windows of time, a better way to look at it might be focusing on that end time. You can pick if the line is moving and you come up before the start, but you know you'll be skipped for sure by the end time.

I really believe this will help the draft move along. We were maybe getting through a round a day, now we're assured of that.

For myself and the Rockies, I assume we just need to make our back to back picks by the 6:30am cutoff. Basically is the 10pm cutoff irrelevant to us since we have the first pick in the morning?

You have to remember that this might lead to some teams being skipped and there being a lag time when they post their makeup selection. You can wait and disregard that 10 PM cutoff, but more players might be coming off the board. You would basically be incentivized to try to pick back-to-back. Scheduling it out this way also enables me to send an update at the end of the day for the next day.
