b1g.boards.net/thread/565/proposed-amendment-arbitrarion-processProposed Amendment: fWAR to set the A1/A2/A3 values with A1=1*fWAR, A2=1.8fWAR and A3=2.5fWAR with the arbitration caps of 3/5/10 still in place for each stage Whether we would keep the original structure (with GMs submitting their proposed salaries for each player) or move to this new proposal, no player can earn less than their salary in the previous year. Included below is what Oakland put together to give people an idea of what it would look like for this new proposed structure. Arbitration Excel 2021 Offseason.xlsx (38.11 KB)

Oakland, for strictly handling this on an input, was this less labor intensive than it was done in other leagues in previous years?
This seems like a pretty fair, and straightforward way to approach arbitration.
I'm all for the amendment.

It wasn't a huge deal and took about a hour to do. I think we can streamline it and automate the sheet better to grab the WAR from Fangraphs.
Considering the amount of arb eligible players there are right now getting packets from everyone would probably be a hassle.

It's looking like this vote will likely hold in favor of amending the arbitration process. Are there any other suggestions of fine-tuning what was proposed? If we move forward with this structure, is a deadline of the end of the month enough time for teams to cut players who are arbitration-eligible or have changing salaries without any financial penalty?

I think the end of this month should be good to decide on arbitration/changing salary players and trim the rosters to 50.
Would then say we start the amateur draft sometime shortly after the new year.

If this vote for a new process holds, is everyone good with the values of A1=1*fWAR, A2=1.8*fWAR and A3=2.5*fWAR? If there's another suggestion (like what was previously thrown out there--A1=1*fWAR, A2=2*fWAR and A3=3*fWAR), then we could put that up for vote. I'm open to whatever, but I'd like to make this determination soon so we could move forward.
It makes sense to start the Amateur Draft early in the new year, and I think we could get through that quickly. We also won't have many players up for bid this year in Free Agency so that would likely only take a month.

Legislation demands compromise so I like the proposal as amended...

We'll call this vote today and I don't think any fine-tuning will be necessary. I'll send out an e-mail update later today with the arbitration figures added to the Excel. Personally, I think the end of the month would be a good deadline for releasing those players without financial penalty. Would that make sense or should we give everyone an extra cushion by making it January 7th (after the holidays)?

7th seems like a good date. Then start the draft soon after. The way ZiPS are being released it could mean Free Agency not far behind!
