That Pratto projection makes me regret Jansen some. Come on Casas, you better pan out.

Let me ask. What do you guys look for with these projections? For me, the power numbers, OBS, and average. I think WAR is completely overrated. I'm old school and hate the analytics part. It's not needed

You do realize that this game is based on the analytics part, right?

Yes but it's not the end all be all, is it?

You are looking at stats to help determine value. Even if you aren't a fan of the advanced stats you are still using analytics.

That Juan Soto projection though certainly makes me feel some sort of way. Just a monster.

I have a little regret taking Acuna over Soto. Should have known better considering the Ted Williams comp for Soto last year.

The A's would be reluctantly willing to fall on that Acuna contract grenade.

I would be reluctantly willing to take on Wander Franco's albatross contract.

A's are already knee deep in salary cap math to be handle that burden.

A's are already knee deep in salary cap math to be handle that burden. You're a saint for taking on that burden. If you change your mind, I'd still be reluctantly willing to relieve you of that Carlos Beltran-esque contract obligation.

Yes but it's not the end all be all, is it? How do you think the game determines players abilities?

Dan wrote a great article on FanGraphs outlining the ZiPS projections and changes this year. Integration of certain new minor league data seems to be a factor in why we're seeing better projections for prospects/younger players. blogs.fangraphs.com/the-2022-zips-projections-are-coming/

10M dollars a year for Luzardo to suck so bad he only got a 94 ERA+. Fuck.

It would take a good amount of time, but it would be fun to be able to compile these early 2022 projections for every B1G team. The new projection disk won't be out until April--though the good thing is I think it'll still be released around that time even if there is a delayed start to the MLB season.

Have done distributions for certain thresholds of stats. Some teams are... not great in some areas

With how we drafted teams and built in salary control to rosters, most teams should be fairly set this early. That can be both good and bad, but I think bad teams can even improve fairly quickly--if they aren't tanking as a strategy. Free Agency has some options, but probably heavier on depth than impact. Speaking of that, we'll also start working on a Free Agency schedule/structure soon too now that all of the early projections have been released. I would appreciate any input. I still need to make sure I've captured all the names that have been suggested too, but we're building out a decent list. Even in the first year, it'll be interesting to see how Free Agency goes with bidding.

I have some more names I will suggest. On format for FA bidding I think we should have larger groups so the money is being spent. I think we could avoid some of the issues we would run into in the later groups in the other league.

With us just doing a full draft last year is there really that big of an FA group to bid on?
