Padres placed LHP Blake Snell on the 10-day injured list with a left adductor strain.
This would explain why San Diego signed Vince Velasquez to a minor league deal on Wednesday. Snell left his start on Sunday in the first inning after injuring his groin, and there is currently no timetable for his return. The southpaw had posted a 1.83 ERA and 0.64 WHIP over his last seven starts with 59 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings.
