Washington Nationals are happy to be in the playoffs. We certainly had ups and downs in the season. Once we got healthy with our pitching staff and the kids stabilized we played pretty good baseball down the stretch. We knew we couldn't catch the Mets, but the Wild Card was certainly a possibility.
Washington scored more runs than any other team in the league, led by Trea Turner and Ian Happ, both over 100 runs each. We allowed a lot of runs too, but not the most in the playoffs. Two other NL squads and the AL Central winning Twins allowed more during the regular season.
The Cubs and Nats played a close 4-3 season series with Chicago winning one more game and will be the host squad. Here's to hoping Brent Brown, can put his childhood team fandom behind him and the Nats can bring back their own curly W from the Windy City to square off against the Mets.
If Chicago is interested, Washington would certainly enjoy playing this one head to head.
