If we're able to simulate two weeks of the regular season in a real-life week, then we could get caught up near the middle of October. Included below and attached is a proposal, which would also enable us to have a pretty normal offseason. ok... guess there is no choice.... Should we vote on a start date? I'd be fine with a little bit of a break between the end of the draft and the start of the season. We still need to agree on a source of truth for player eligibility as well.

We still need to agree on a source of truth for player eligibility as well. Yeah, we can vote on a start date. I put this together to give people an idea of what something would look like to catch up to the real-life calendar. In terms of an injury source, we would have to go by the official records of the dates from MLB/MiLB when a player is officially put on the disabled list and activated during the regular season. All other sources are aggregating those transactions. Players who are not active with a MLB franchise would also be ineligible in the sim.

Please weigh in on when we should start.

In addition to voting, you can also weigh in if you don't want to immediately start simulating 2 weeks in the span of a real-life week or if you have any other ideas.

I'm biased that I'm not able to put together a MP until the 15th or 16th at the soonest.

The proposed schedule might be a tad ambitious. In terms of these voting options, ASAP could mean starting more mid-week as opposed to waiting another full week to start (next weekend).

Would also say we might address when does the draft lock and the teams with IL players start signing players in the forums.

I'm ok with whatever. However, I'm going on vacation next week and would need to have my MP to you by next Monday.

I do, however, think we need wrap up the draft. There's a ton of picks that are still outstanding and like to make the sheet as pretty as possible

I'd propose locking the draft at noon tomorrow and opening signing forums at the same time. Give folks a couple of days to tweak their rosters before the first MP is due.

I'd propose locking the draft at noon tomorrow and opening signing forums at the same time. Give folks a couple of days to tweak their rosters before the first MP is due. Something along these lines makes sense to me, though maybe locking the draft and opening the signing forum (only one here, regardless of whether they're in the database or not) a little later tomorrow. Another distinction from the LWNN that I want to highlight is that the additional DL reserve slots are only for players who have a projection who are injured. Teams won't get the benefit of an additional roster spot if a prospect without a projection is hurt because that has no possible impact on the sim. Most teams already have plenty of depth so the DL reserve is less important. Though I'm frankly astonished that the Rockies and Phillies only have 27 players with a projection--and that's before any injuries. I'm working on the initial Opening Day injuries now, and I'll be able to send an updated database out later today.

I sent out an updated database with Opening Day injuries and inactivations added. These are not officially final as there could potentially be other inactivations identified prior to Week 1, but this will give everyone a good idea what they're working with to start the season. Hopefully we can get some more votes/thoughts too.

What's an MP?

MP is the manager profile. When you farm/promote players to get your roster to 26 active players, set your lineups, rotation, depth chart, preferences, etc., you'll then export it and send it to the league e-mail for simulating.

Questions:
1> Will there be playing time limits?
2> Head to Head or Solo play. I can see that co-ordination would be next to impossible in such short periods of time. However, I think that the home manager of the first series each week might be able to host H2H play or play the games of that series solo.
3> Am I correct to assume that the replacement players we sign will remain on our rosters when the inaugural season ends? Perhaps at the [ML] or {0/.5/A1] status?

Perhaps at the [ML] or {0/.5/A1] status? 1. No playing time limits. 2. In all likelihood due to the time window of having to catch up in this inaugural season, most games are probably going to be simulated and posted by the league. Teams will be able to NetPlay one another. Someone would only be able to solo play out the series if the other GM would agree to it. 3. The free agents signed would be [0/.5/A1] if they have 130 or more career MLB ABs or 50 or more career MLB IP, and they would be [ML] if they don't have that experience. With the inaugural draft, the cutoff was as of the end of the 2020 season because it otherwise would have created an unfair imbalance with things changing during the draft. However, those experience requirements are now as of the real-life date that they're signed. If someone didn't have any experience last year but has 130 MLB ABs this season, their contract when signed would be [0/.5/A1]. Included below is that section of the rulebook. C. Pay ScalesAt the end of every season, players who reach the minimum MLB rookie requirements of 130 at-bats and 50 innings pitched will change pay scales and move to a [.5/1/A1/A2/A3] contract. The [A1/A2/A3] contract years indicate stages of arbitration. Teams will have until a designated deadline to release these players before those contracts become official. During the season, a team who signs a player who has already exceeded those minimum experience requirements (as of that exact time of the signing) will be on a [0/.5/A1] contract.

We'll give this a little more time, but ASAP is the favorite. It'll probably be tough to get 2 simulation weeks in this real-life week, but we could send out the official Week 1 database a little later this week and then start doing 2 weeks after.

I'll send an updated database tonight and give people until tomorrow night to still make any additions before Week 1.
