Please vote on when we should begin our Amateur Draft. Feel free to add any comments, thoughts, or ideas in this thread.

First week of March it is. Any thoughts about starting it mid-week or the weekend in the that first week of March?
Starting the Amateur Draft on Saturday, March 4th, with 5 picks per day would have us finish by Sunday, April 2nd.
In terms of Free Agency, we really only have enough players for 3 or 4 rounds. We could run Free Agency with the ongoing Amateur Draft with both ending by April 2nd. The 2023 MLB Projection Disk should hopefully be released by DMB this year around early to mid-April, and we would have the DMB Player Draft after that's released. We would still be on track for a normal star--since last year was unusually delayed with the ZiPS creator Dan Szymborski being sick and the late release of the disk.

Didn’t know why the DB was delayed, glad he’s better. Don’t really care which day the draft starts although weekend stars feel traditional/fun. First pick will be in early.

It looks like no one has an objection starting the Amateur Draft on Saturday, March 4th, with 5 picks per day. In case there are people who haven't checked in on the forum, I'll send an email notice out to the league. Does anyone have any thoughts about the FA Schedule? We'll want to have the deadline for releasing players who are Arbitration-Eligible or have Changing Salaries without any financial penalty (officially moving them back over to the left side of the Excel) before we start Free Agency.

Start FA March 13th? We will hopefully be well under way with the draft. Maybe we could send out a daily pick schedule like we did during our initial draft, with time slots? if we did a round every 3 days, we could have the draft done in 2 weeks for the start of FA.

I like the daily pick schedule idea.

We did 5 picks per day last year (included below), and I think that's a good pace.
5 Picks Every Day 1. skipped by 9 AM CST 2. skipped by 12 PM CST 3. skipped by 3 PM CST 4. skipped by 6 PM CST 5. skipped by 9 PM CST
I'm going to push the start back a few more days to Monday, March 6th. If the teams who are up first already want to start, we can have a soft open like we did previously with those teams posting their picks. I believe we're going to have a fair amount of vacant teams, and I think the best thing for the overall health of the league is going to be to automatically give them the highest MLB drafted player who signed--rather than skipping them and doing that at the end of the round. Since the international signing process has changed, we also need to clarify who is eligible. I believe what we did last year was that the player had to have officially signed with their MLB team before the end of 2022. Players who signed in the calendar year of 2023 would be eligible for next year's Amateur Draft. Thoughts?

Agree with the drafting idea rather than skipping. Good plan.

Yeah definitely better for the entirety of the league to draft for the vacant clubs at this point

Of course the Yankees picked up Collier in the spot right in front of me.

Of course the Yankees picked up Collier in the spot right in front of me. No reason to go and ruin the A's draft with the next pick.

Of course the Yankees picked up Collier in the spot right in front of me. Our lists must be awfully close to each other, De Paula was next for me if Collier wasn't there.

See, blame the Yankees. Good to at least confirm I didn't reach since I wasn't going to be able to get him later if I didn't take him.

I was hoping for Rushing so I’m not crying for the Mets not getting Cam.

Was just surprised a guy who has popped on some top 100 lists just kept on falling to me. Was not expected.

Just couldn’t resist 105.5. Should we auto pick to Colorado since those picks weren’t made in the first round?

Since we're winding down the Amateur Draft, I've updated the team names to reflect this offseason's franchise swaps.
HOU <--> BOS ATL --> SF | PIT --> ATL | SF --> PIT
There is a reminder in parenthesis to note the former team. Everything has been updated on the B1G Salaries Sheet.

We'll give teams through this weekend to post any makeup selections of skipped picks. After Sunday, we'll lock the 2023 Amateur Draft.
