B1G Salaries: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ka3bKWH9A7trmFk3lUzDlINe3gwmVzUjG1dGXPaQZwE/The B1G Salaries Sheet has been fully transitioned over to the new year with the arbitration figures added. There's a '23 ARB tab so you can see how we arrive at them using the formula from fWAR and making sure that no player earns less than their 2022 salary or higher than the maximum for the arbitration stage. The Arbitration-Eligible and Changing Salaries players on the right side of the Excel can be released without any financial penalty. We'll have to set a deadline for that soon so then those salaries become official and the players move back over to the left side. The 2023 Amateur Draft order has also been added under the '23 Draft tab. I'll need to do another review to catch players who have signed internationally because they're then removed from their team's B1G roster. That'll also include adding international players who have signed to a MLB team to our Free Agency list. Now that everything has been updated, the Submit Trades forum has been re-opened. Please double-check to review your teams and post any errors.

Since we already have the early 2023 ZiPS released, I went through and added players who project to have a 100+ OPS+ or ERA+ (regardless of any MLB experience) to the Free Agency bidding. Should I go back and remove players who were still in the minors on MLB teams or should we put them through the bidding process?

Feel fine leaving them in.

I Don’t feel fine leaving them in. It seems like the DMB DEAFT is where players go who have an unexpected projection and now instead of them going into that draft they are going to be free agents. I don’t mind for players who have in the MLB or are coming from overseas like, Japan, Cuba, or Korea because that has been done before. But including the ML players causes 2 problems. First it dramatically reduces the value of the picks in the DMB draft. Those of us at the beginning of the draft are now going to have to probably radically spend for players we shouldn’t have to.
Next it changed the status of players who should have an ML status. For example a player gets signed this year for a ridiculous contract because the Free Agent class is shallow. But this year he’s still in the minors. It’s entirely possible to have a player like that not get called up next year, but next year they are now a regular free agent or non rostered player but that ML status is gone, or at least should be, because they were signed as an FA.

Any other thoughts about this from anyone? I get both sides.
With putting them in Free Agency, you're adding more talent and maximizing what players get paid. There's a good amount of money teams have available to spend and not much worthwhile talent to spend it on, which could inflate costs of those annual salaries if we further restrict the FA pool. Since our initial league draft attached contracts to the players selected, we have a pretty limited FA pool already these first few years. I also understand the point about skipping over the [ML] contract and decreasing value of the DMB Player Draft. In my opinion, that is more for just having a structured process for trying to get the last remaining players with projections in the database to the teams who need it the most. A lot of teams might not even participate in the DMB Player Draft.

I made some small tweaks to the Free Agency list. Unless there are objections, I'm leaning towards starting the bidding with Tier 1 going from March 13th to March 19th; Tier 2 going from March 20th to March 26th; Tier 3 going from March 27th to April 2nd.

Do we have a cut date on changing salaries guys? Yes, the deadline to release players who are Arbitration-Eligible or have Changing Salaries without financial penalty will be the end of Sunday, March 12th, before the start of Free Agency.

Looking at the sheet the A's should not be getting 3.8 million from the White Sox and should not be paying 3.0 to the Orioles. Astros 500k in 24 should be in the 23 column.

With Trevor Bauer signing in Japan, his contract/salary mercifully will come off the books for the Diamondbacks.

All of the players who were Arbitration-Eligible or had Changing Salaries have been moved back over to the left side of each team's Salaries Sheet.
The following teams are now over the 50-player roster limit...
