Great 2022 B1G World Series that went to 15 innings in Game 7.
In the end, the New York Mets could not do enough to overcome the Oakland Athletics. Game 7 was brutal, gut-wrenching, and heart-breaking (for the Mets). Plenty of missed opportunities. New York ran out of pitching and the A's were able to squeeze some extra clutch pitches out of Game 4 winning SP Jordan Montgomery to finish it in the 15th inning. On offense, the unexpected heroes were Tommy Pham--going 7 for 27 (.259/.355/.593) with 2 HRs and 8 RBI--and Richard Palacios--going 8 for 23 (.348/.423/.696) with 2 HRs and 5 RBI. Although Jordan Montgomery pitched very well getting the Game 4 win and Game 7 save, Caleb Ferguson was utterly dominant in his 2 starts with a 21:1 K:BB rate in 14 1/3 IP (only 5 hits surrendered!) for a 1.26 ERA and 0.42 WHIP. Incredible series to cap a roughs simulation year for us with the heavily delayed release of the projection disk.
Congratulations to the Oakland Athletics, back-to-back B1G World Series Champions! I'll work on updating the Salaries Sheet to 2023 and move on to the offseason.
