In the American League, the New York Yankees have won the East, the Kansas City Royals have won the Central, and the Oakland Athletics have won the West. Although Seattle lost its grip on the West, the Mariners have clinched the #1 Wild Card. The Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox have clinched Wild Card spots, but they'll be jockeying for home-field advantage in the Wild Card Round. The Kansas City Royals looked like a lock for the #1 seed, but the defending champion Oakland Athletics are continuing to surge and fighting for home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs.
In the National League, the New York Mets have won the East while the Central and West will be decided in the final 3 games. In the Central, the Cincinnati Reds have a 3-game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals--who will face each other in the concluding series of the regular season). The Arizona Diamondbacks hold a 1-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Miami Marlins nearly have the #1 Wild Card spot secured with a 2-game lead over the Washington Nationals. In the upcoming 3-game home stretch, the Marlins host the division rival Atlanta Braves while the Nationals are on the road against the Mets. While the Dodgers are fighting for the West, they also have a tenuous grip on the #3 Wild Card spot with a 2-game lead over Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

The final regular season database will be sent out today, which will allow teams to set up their post-season rotations and enable these teams who are still competing and opportunity to have a little more control with an updated profile--rather than just combining these last 3 games with this week. Then we'll be able to begin the post-season with the aim of finishing by the end of this month or at least early December. This year was so out of whack with how Diamond Mind delayed the release of the disk by several months, which really killed a lot of buzz. Fortunately, I've heard they're committed to the typical April release this coming year. The good thing is we'll be able to keep on schedule with a fairly normal offseason.
