DMB Player Draft

2 rounds works for me.
I have a family reunion next Saturday but I am sure no time will work for all 30 owners.
I could just submit a list of 60 players to the Cmmmish or his designate, preferably someone picking after me

Who is eligible for this draft?

Suggest long window for picks with the long lay-off and makes things easier for those who have commitments.

The DMB Player Draft will be 2 rounds. The draft order is the worst teams to the best teams last year--so the Amateur Draft order position before any picks were traded. The eligible players are only those who have a projection in this season's database, which is why we wait to do it until after the disk is released so you can see the available players. If you go to the Draft tab of the Organizer, you can see the free agent players and sort through their projections.

The next thing to settle on is exactly how we should do it. Since we have had a sizeable delay waiting for DMB to release the projections, we could hold it over a longer period with longer time windows (as was suggested). Or we could try to rush and get through it in a weekend. I don't think we have any reason to rush. Even though we've had such a delay in getting the database, I feel like we should take our time to do things right. In terms of the roster limit, I would be fine with allowing teams who are at or under the limit participate. If drafting someone takes them over the limit, then they can get under by a deadline.

Another reason to take our time is because I don't know what to do the issues with the database. I think the most notable players missing who had a projection but don't appear in the database are Jeurys Familia and Reyes Moronta. Luis Gil's projection only had like 8 innings so everything was totally off for his rates. I was able to go in and edit that to reflect the projection that was posted on Fangraphs, which then made all of his rates match with what was online. We can choose if we want to keep that correction, but that seemed like a no-brainer. A more puzzling error is that Julio Rodriguez has a rating as a catcher (and a good one too). No response from DMB, but I'm going to assume there's not going to be anything coming from them since this took so long. Not sure how to address those database issues and how that might impact things with the draft.

Thoughts?

Begin play with the cards as they have been dealt. Start the draft simultaneously. Consider the uncarded guys as injured, allowing their owners to pick up replacements via the draft or free agent signings. (I assume we will be able to expand to 55 players to cover players on the IR as before.) I know it's not perfect.

Knowing there won't be any further database updates from Diamond Mind helps clarify our path. Dan said that it should be back to normal for next year, but there were schedule issues that really screwed things up this year. We just have to use what we have.

If we start later this week (Tuesday, Wednesday?), how many picks should we schedule per day? If we would average 6 picks per day, then we would get through 2 Rounds over at least 10 days. However, there are more likely to be skipped picks in the DMB Player Draft than the Amateur Draft because not everyone participates--in my experience. If we can finish within a week or so, then there would be a period when we officially open the Sign Players forum for last-minute additions before we send the Week 1 database out and start the season.

Also, since the start was so abnormally delayed this year, what pace do people prefer for the regular season? It's unlikely we would catch up to the regular MLB schedule so I don't know if there's a need to go much faster than a weekly pace.

Since I'm out of town and away from my windows computer that I have just for this game I like just doing the draft this week.
